About

Żniwa are two souls united by love - Skjere and Raido. Music is our life and our greatest passion. We have been living and performing together since 2017.

Żniwa (en. ‘harvest’) is a married duo of multi-instrumentalists, Lidia “Skjere” Ulatowska and Paweł “Raido” Ulatowski. They perform neo-Celtic, Slavic, and Nordic pagan folk that awakens primal instincts, invites the audience to dance, and at times leads listeners into deep nostalgia.

Expect original compositions inspired by ancient legends and traditional music, as well as authentic historical pieces dating back centuries. Skjere and Raido use only true acoustic instruments, whether on amplified stages or completely unplugged — even deep in the forest.

the spirit of pagan music

We value the natural sound of acoustic instruments and do not limit ourselves to any particular region when choosing them. In our music, you will hear romantic lute, violin, a whole quiver of flutes, viola, Celtic harp, didgeridoo, cajón, log drum, diverse percussion, two voices, piano, clarinet - and above all, the spirit of pagan music.

ŻNIWA LIVE ON STAGE

Our performances are equally at home on large amplified stages and in purely acoustic settings - whether in a seaside tavern or at a Slavic camp deep in the forest. We tour throughout Poland and increasingly perform abroad.

BAROQUE ŻNIWA

We also enjoy traveling back in time to the Baroque era. We set aside the cajón, put on period costumes, and perform contredanses for the elegant dances of the La Danse ensemble from Kutno.

Skjere

Skjere is the band’s witch and magpie, collecting feathers, jewelry, and seashells and transforming them into amulets, cat toys, or handcrafted items for our merchandise stand. She sings and plays five-string violin, a dozen flutes, Celtic harp, percussion, viola, piano, and clarinet.

Raido

Raido is the band’s master of chaos control, playing what feels like six million instruments at once while simultaneously managing organization, travel, booking, and everything else imaginable. He sings and plays lute, bouzouki, cajón, percussion, didgeridoo, tagelharpa, flute, drums, and double bass - often all at the same time.
